Laminate materials can be decorative or printed papers, films, or PVC films. Typically, protective film is machine applied to the laminate surface after the paper, film or PVC is laminated to the MDF or Wood surface. After the masking film is applied, the masked panels are then fabricated. Cutting, routing and drilling are normal processes the film needs to withstand. After the furniture is fabricated, the protective masking is usually removed before shipment.

HPL panels have been used for years for countertop and furniture applications and are available in gloss, matte, textured and in a multitude of colors. Typically protective masking is applied after the panels are constructed. The masking will stay on the panel through the lamination stage and countertop fabrication.

TOPGUARDTM masking films are commonly sold to Countertop fabricators that need to protect natural stone surfaces like granite and quartz surfaces during fabrication. Typically the masking is applied before any cutting and drilling is performed on the surface, thus keeping the countertops from being scratched. Solid Surface Countertops are usually made of sturdy acrylic blended material. There are a large number of manufacturers making these types of countertops. Each have their proprietary blends of raw materials that go into the countertop. It’s this variety that makes it important to call your TOPGUARDTM Sales rep to discuss the application. Typically a 3mil medium adhesion product is used, however testing may be required on these surfaces.

TOPGUARDTM Protective Film can remain on the surface until the countertop is installed and can even be left on until painting, grouting, and other finishing work is completed. Keep your surface pristine with TOPGUARDTM
